Non si sa con esattezza quanti anni aveva (IAFD indica che era nato nel 1938), vari fonti indicano tra i 74 a 76 anni.
Durante la sua carriera ha diretto +300 film. Ebbe anche un piccolo ruolo nel film cult d'orrore LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT (1972), che ha sempre detestato.

Lincoln era nato a New York, e verso la fine degli anni 70 e inizio degli anni 80 era proprietario per un certo tempo del sex club Plato's Retreat. In primo trempo era sposato con l'attrice Tiffany Clark (dal 1984), poi con la sua collaboratrice-regista-produttrice Patti Rhodes-Lincoln (verso la fine degli anni 80, si sono separati dopo ma mai divorziati; con Patti ha avuto una figlia Angelica, che si curava del padre malato in questi ultimi tempi).

Ma ricordo vagamente una vecchia intervista in cui Lincoln si lamentava delle brutte scelte che aveva fatto nel passato (per aver sposato Tiffany Clark e Rhodes) e sono rimasto sorpreso nel leggere che andava tuttora d'accordo con Rhodes. Tiffany Clark fece un pompino a Lincoln in una scena del film LIQUID ASSETS (1982,Caballero).
