I film western li ho sempre visti doppiati in italiano.
Ma comunque fosse solo yip, quando scrive un e mail non mette il soggetto, il punto interrogativo, ecc.
Non fa il minimo sforzo per essere chiaro. Quando parla poi e' buio totale.
Mi sono chiesto se e' sgrammaticato o menefreghista, non è' antipatico solo che parla esclusivamente di calcio scozzese e rugby.

Fai delle osservazioni che non posso chiarire, datosi che non conosco la cultura scozzese.
Li l'espressione "yip" la si usa, o e' stata un uso raro e "farsesco"?
Se ho capito il tuo post, mi sembra che avete scambiato messaggi d'affari/commerciali (tu volevi che lui confirmasse certi calcoli).
Rispondere con un semplice "yip" (scritto e non-verbale) non riflette mi sembra un atmosfera d'affari (business atmosphere).
Non so se lo scozzese e' abituato (nella sua corrispondenza) a essere un poco comico o piu rigido.
Nel mio lavoro la ditta ha sempre insistito su un certo comportamento di professionalita sia in e-mail o per lettere scritte (anche quando si scrive tra colleghi all'interno della ditta).

Per come sono fatto io, uscii da questo blocco leggendo molto in inglese, e prendendo familiarita' con le frasi piu' utilizzate... cose come i fumetti Marvel mi aiutarono abbastanza... Rispetto alle persone viventi, i libri stampati non perdono la pazienza e sopportano che smetto di leggerli per dedicare 10 minuti al vocabolario...

In un vecchio vecchio post in questo forum, io dissi che cosi io imparai l'inglese quando i miei genitori emigrarono in America.
I miei cugini (maschi e femmine), leggevano fumetti (comic books) di tutti i generi: Zorro, Lone Ranger, Batman, Superman, ecc.
Essendo abituato ai fumetti italiani di Tex, Monello, Intrepido, ecc. ero familiare con lo stile, l'azione, ecc. Spesso le stesse parole e espressioni apparivano in quei fumetti.
Era piu semplice che seguire un testo scolastico e molto arido con espressioni difficili e non colloquiali.
Quello che aiuto' molto (piu' tardi) era la mia passione per il cinema, e film stranieri (giapponesi, francesi, svedesi, danesi, ecc) che io guardavo con sottotitoli inglesi. Quello mi permetteva di seguire la trama, come erano scritte le parole, e datosi che c'era dialogo, l'inglese che vedevo scritto (nei sottotitoli) era piou colloquiale.
Leggere molto fu un grande aiuto in particolare certi romanzi di fantascienza, fantasia (Edgar Rice Burroughs, A. Norton, ecc).
Non furono i libbri scolastici che furono di grande aiuto, almeno all'inizio (a parte di avere una certa conoscenza della struttura delle frasi, regole, e buona grammatica)

Di quello che non avevo capito niente al solito è incredibile come con il testo sotto il parlato diventi riconoscibilissimo.

Ah capito.
Anch'io mi ero inceppato in vari posti, piu o meno come te (puo darsi un poco di meno).
Era un corto metraggio (di circa 5 minuti) prodotto da un soldato australiano (2013).
Nel film, lui sta "leggendo" una "lettera" che un soldato (di leva in Afghanistan) scrive a sua madre.
Fa un confronto della sua vita con quelli che vivono li. Ora si rammarica per tutte le cose belle e la liberta che lui godeva nel suo paese nativo.
E poi reflette su figli di ricchi e politchi che non sono li con loro in quella brutta guerra.

Digger ha vari significati: uno che scava, slang australiano per "soldato", oppure slang australiano per "amico". Difficile capire se sta dicendo "soldato" o "army buddy", ma credo semplicemente altri soldati (della sua squadra suppongo).

Perché tu conosci qualcuno che ha imparato in maniera decente l'inglese a scuola?
