It's a bummer. But in the sex business it's not a shock. But it is a bummer and we wish D James the best. Ora stanno determinando se altri attori o attrici sono stati infettati.

AIM Quarantines Nine Performers in Effort to Contain HIV

VAN NUYS, Calif. - As a result of Darren James HIV-positive diagnosis, the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM) has compiled a quarantine list of nine first- and second-generation performers in an effort to prevent the spread of the virus.
A first-generation partner is someone who has had sex with James recently. People who have had sex with a first-generation partner are considered second-generation partners.
First-generation performers who have been notified of their quarantine status by AIM are as follows: Laura Rox, Carmen Real, Rhonda Richardson, Jessica D, Marrisa Arroyo.
There is also one first-generation performer, a Canadian female named Patricia, whose last name is not known. AIM has not been able to locate this performer and she is not answering her cell phone.
Patricia is working with Judy Starr and they both were staying at the Ramada Inn. She is possibly from Montreal or somewhere in Quebec as she speaks French.
Anyone with information on Patricia should immediately call AIM.
"Everyone has been very helpful, but obviously if anyone has any information about first generation partners, we'd really appreciate it," Mitchell said.
First-generation performers will wait until 30 days have passed since their scene with James, then take the PCR-DNA and RNA tests for HIV.
The only second-generation performers known at this time are Marc Anthony and T.T. Boy. They are not considered nearly as high-risk as the first-generation performers.
"We've asked them and anyone else who has worked with anyone who has worked with Darren to please refrain from working in the community until the primary quarantine list has cleared out," Mitchell said.
Mitchell says that everyone should be out of quarantine by May 6 if all goes well, though most people on the list will have cleared even earlier.

Darren James Diagnosed HIV-Positive
By: Scott Ross
04-13-2004
VAN NUYS, Calif. - Darren James, a veteran performer who was signed to Evasive Angles, has been diagnosed as HIV-positive. The diagnosis was confirmed today.
Records at the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM) show that James' last negative test was on March 17, 2004. Prior to that, his last negative test was on Feb. 25, 2004.
According to Dr. Sharon Mitchell, executive director of AIM, in between his last two test dates, "this male talent went to Brazil and worked non-condom. We have spoken with T.T. Boy, whose production company James worked for.
"He has been very cooperative and has released the names of two women he has worked with either right before or right after the trip to Brazil. We will be releasing their names shortly and placing them in quarantine until they have cleared out after a thirty-day period," Mitchell said.
James has also worked with two other women in the last week for another producer. Those names will be released shortly as well.
"I'd be willing to bet that the women that he working in between February and March have already tested negative, but I'd like to get them in for just one more 30-day confirmed negative status," Mitchell said.
"Then these two other girls will be placed on quarantine for 30-days. No one is to hire them or work with them until they clear out with by PCR-DNA and RNA."
The identities of the women on the quarantine list will only be released after they have been notified that they have worked with someone who has tested HIV-positive.
AIM will provide his follow-up care and any treatment that James seeks will be provided by AIM or one of their non-profit affiliates.
James is also eligible for the AIM scholarship program so that he can pursue vocational training or a college degree. James isn't legally barred from performing, but for all intents and purposes his career in front of the camera is over. " We know that in the straight world people don't typically work HIV positive unless someone agrees to work with them with a condom, knowing their status," Mitchell said.
This is the first time a veteran performer has been diagnosed HIV-positive since Tony Montana in 1999.
People attempting to enter the adult industry are occasionally found to be HIV-positive. In fact, one aspiring male talent was diagnosed last month before having ever worked in adult.

Sull' argomento non posso che condividere le idee di Anna Amore (intervista tratta dal sito R. T. Pipe):
On that topic, with the recent HIV positive cases do you think the business is doing everything it can to protect people and to educate performers on how to be safer.
The information is out there, but the information is out there for everybody anyway. That is a responsibility that lies with each individual. Because just because there are people doing scenes, what they do in their private life, you know, you can have your AIDS testdone today at 2 o'clock and at 8 o'clock you can have have unprotected sex and that AIDS test doesn't do didly squat for the next two weeks.
So you think there is actually more danger from what people do outside the business than the work.
I think it's safer to be involved with someone who is in the business than outside of the business. I've been in the business three years, in that space of time I have seen maybe four AIDS scares. And all of it had to do with people on the outside doing all kinds of crazy stuff not in the scenes but in their own private life and brought that into the industry.
Do you use condoms in every scene?
No, I'm not that way at all. I figure if the AIDS test is cleared. I have been really lucky. The people they pair me with seem very responsible.

AIM Working to Contain HIV; Search for Second-Generation Continues
By: Scott Ross
04-13-2004
VAN NUYS, Calif. - Veteran performer Darren James was diagnosed as HIV-positive today, and Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM) went immediately into motion to make sure that the virus is contained, quarantining 12 women who have been identified as first-generation performers, women who have slept with James since his last negative HIV result.
Performers who have slept with members of the first-generation are also quarantined, technically voluntarily, and AIM is working to identify other performers in that generation as well.
Darren James
First-generation performers must wait 30 days, the amount of time it could take for HIV to appear in measurable quantities, before taking another PCR-DNA and RNA HIV test. If those tests come back negative, the first-generation performers will be declared "clear," and they will no longer be quarantined.
The current list of women that have worked with James since his last negative test and are under a voluntary quarantine is as follows: Jocelyn (3/19/2004); Lauren Roxx (3/24/04); Annie Cruz (3/29/2004); Vanesca, Persia, Miss Arroyo (3/30/2004); Kayla Marie, Jessica Dee (4/07/2004); Skyler Banks, Patrice Petite, Candy Ray, Desiree Clark, and Kayla Marie again (4/08/2004).
Second-generation performers will be quarantined until the first-generation performer that they worked with is clear.
Veteran performer Mark Ashley, who became of member of the second-generation when he performed in a scene with Patrice Petite, is on the sidelines until May 8.
"I walked off a set today as soon I heard about this. I went down to AIM to take care of it," Ashley said. "I was doing a dialogue scene today and I was supposed to do a sex scene tonight, but I canceled it. "
Ashley said he understands why AIM suggested the quarantine, which is technically voluntary.
"I didn't even know it was voluntary, I thought it was mandatory," Ashley said. Who the fuck is going to work with you anyway? I would encourage other performers in the same the situation to honor the quarantine."
Besides Ashley, other performers known to be in the second-generation are: Carlos Mendes, Mark Anthony, T.T. Boy, Sean Michaels, Julian St. Jox, Mark Davis, Conrad Taylor, Duane Commings, and Marco T.
An unknown male that works under either Sol or Shane is also believed to be in the second-generation.
Judy Starr is the only woman identified so far as being in the second-generation.
Mitchell says that the list will likely be much larger considering the number of women in the first-generation and that identifying performers in the second-generation is next obstacle to overcome for AIM to overcome. "We know the transmission is evident from men to women and with so many women we're very, very, concerned about the second generation," Mitchell said
Mitchell says that Cherry Boxxx Pictures, Red Light District and VCA have declared a moratorium on production until the second- and possibly third-generation has been identified.
"Some people are taking the option not to shoot until the list is complete and I think that's a good idea," Mitchell told AVN.com.
Records the show that James' last negative test was on March 17, 2004. Prior to that, his last negative test was on Feb. 25, 2004. He stopped performing immediately after his AIM test came back positive, and immediately went in for confirmation tests, the results of which came back today.
"He did nothing wrong. He isn't a bad guy," Mitchell said. "He acted responsibly and was very cooperative."
AIM will provide his follow-up care and any treatment that James seeks will be provided by AIM or one of their non-profit affiliates.
James is also eligible for the AIM scholarship program so that he can pursue vocational training or a college degree. [b:343d89d6d1]What Happened?[/b:343d89d6d1]
Few details are known as of yet, but Darren James is believed to have contracted the virus during a trip to Brazil in March. AIM's Dr. Sharon Mitchell estimates that James contracted the virus on March 10, while having unprotected anal sex with a Brazilian woman.
As noted previously, the chances of a man catching the HIV virus from a woman are very low, less than one percent. While in Rio de Janeiro, James was bitten by a spider that sources described as "extremely poisonous." Mitchell admitted that the spider bite may have lowered James' immune system, allowing the virus to spread easier, but stressed that it was simply conjecture at this point.
It is not known if James engaged in high-risk behaviors such as unprotected anal sex with men or sharing needles during drug use.
James is known to have been tested almost religiously every three weeks. His last two tests were on Feb. 25 and March 17 of 2004. Both tests were negative. On April James tested approximately every three weeks without fail. He tested on Feb. 25 and again on March 17, receiving negative results both times.
Mitchell has not had a chance to interview James regarding how he may have caught the virus.

Porn biz goes soft after HIV scare
Positive test may have negative effect on industry
By DANA HARRIS
While Washington has tried to regulate porn for years, to little or no effect, industry practitioners have suddenly been spurred to take action for their own reasons.
Adult-film star Darren James found out Monday that he's tested HIV-positive, and almost immediately the Adult Industry Medical Health Care Foundation recommended that all porn production cease for the next two months. The proposal was seconded by Adult Video News, the industry's trade publication.
James, who has starred in dozens of porn movies in the past six years, is the first performer in four years to be diagnosed HIV-positive. The actor mostlyperformed in so-called gonzo porn, which is both plot- and condom-free.
Since 1998, AIM has tested James for sexually transmitted diseases every three weeks as part of its ongoing effort to monitor the health of porn performers.
On March 17, his HIV test was negative. The April 12 test wasn't.
Double-checked, it still wasn't.
The result means the porn industry can't be sure all of its performers are
disease-free until June 8 -- 60 days after the last day James worked.
It's difficult to estimate the impact -- in terms of morale or money -- on a
business of renegades. The industry doesn't make its financial figures known, but with Hustler Video, VCA, Jill Kelly Prods. and Sin City shuttering production and other companies likely to follow, it could mean tens of millions of dollars in lost revenue.
As for mainstream showbizzers, a few below-the-line workers in Hollywood moonlight in the thriving porn industry, which is centered in the San Fernando Valley.
"I'm getting everything from 'What, are you kidding?' to "Thanks,' " said AVN publisher and former porn performer Tim Connelly of his publication's call to stop production. "I want to wake up everybody, throw cold water in their faces."
Stoking the fire
Others fear the news will add fuel to anti-smut crusaders' attempts to crack down on all matters deemed indecent.
"I think this will be the worst we've ever had," said Jim South, owner of porn talent agency World Modeling and a 28-year veteran of the business.
AIM chief Sharon Mitchell has contacted all 12 female performers who worked with James in the past month, as well as the second, third and fourth "generations" -- the hundreds of performers who then worked (meaning had sex) with James' partners.
Mitchell said the likelihood was high that some of the initial 12 women would test positive, thereby increasing the pool of potentially infected performers.
However, that can't be confirmed for 30 days -- the time necessary for HIV to show up on the PCR/DNA test used by AIM. Thirty days later, a second test will be performed to confirm those results.
The American porn industry is one of the most regularly monitored businesses in the world with regard to sexually transmitted diseases. Through AIM, Mitchell has created a database devoted to the sexual health of an industry that traffics in high-risk behaviors. It's unique enough that she's become a consultant to the Dept. of Health and Human Services' Centers for Disease Control on HIV prevention strategies.
Some unlikely to comply
Not all companies will follow AIM and AVN recommendations.
Wicked Pictures and Vivid Video, the two largest porn companies, have followed a "condom-only" policy for years, believing that it offers performers enough protection against any potential threat.
"We require current HIV tests and STD panels of all performers 30 days before start of production, and condom use is mandatory in all the movies that we shoot, so this has not been a factor for us," a Vivid spokesman said in a prepared statement. "We have, and will continue to insist, on every possible safety measure."
Jill Kelly, a former porn star who now operates her own "condom-optional"
production company, disagrees that these precautions are enough.
"Anyone who continues to shoot at this point are complete idiots," she said.
Mitchell was also a porn star before she earned a master's degree in public health and a Ph.D. in human sexuality, with AIM serving as her dissertation. She said it is unlikely the industry will meet her shutdown recommendation.
"It would be nice to have the two months, but we're dealing with pornography," she told Daily Variety. "We're in an industry making a living by peddling flesh. I have to operate from a harm-reduction model and not an abstinence model. They would continue to shoot underground. I know the holes in this industry."
Mitchell's recommendation did seem to be connecting with performers on
Wednesday.
"I will go by whatever guidelines come out from Sharon," said porn star
Cherokee. "No amount of money is worth your health. We all have to step up and be responsible to each other. Other people don't know what to do with us, so we have to be there for each other."

Lady Roxx, che ha fatto un doppio anal con Darren James il 24 marzo 2004 e' stata diagnosticata HIV+.
CHATSWORTH, Calif. - As feared, one of the women who worked with Darren James has tested HIV-positive. Lana Roxx, one of the Canadians in the first-generation, has just been confirmed positive by the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM).
Roxx, who is either 18 or 19 years old, performed in a double anal with Darren James and Mark Anthony on March 24. On that same day, she also performed with Maxxx, who is now quarantined as a member of a new line of the virus.
Maxxx has since performed with Rayveness, who is now considered in second-generation of this new line of the virus and quarantined as well.
Roxx had only been in the adult industry for three months. Her scene with James and Anthony was her first double anal.
Her agent Daniel Perreault, the agent who handles the women for the Eromodel Group, told Roxx not to come to Los Angeles on this trip, saying he didn't believe she was ready yet. She came anyway.
In another development in James' line of the virus, John Strong has been identified as a person who worked with Banesca, one of the women in the first-generation of that line. Strong has been placed on the quarantine list.

Uno va in Brasile e cosa fa? Lo infila nel culo a una sconosciuta e senza preservativo! Complimenti! Per suicidarsi esitono modi più rapidi e indolori.

Condivisibile la proposta di Jenna Jameson:
"I think that any performer coming into the United States from abroad, including American nationals who have worked outside the country, should have a ‘quarantine' period in which they must wait at least 60 days before beginning work again in the adult industry." (da AVN)
Un periodo di quarantena per tutti quei performer (yankee e non) che provengono dall' estero per girare film negli States.
P.S.: si dice che in Brasile il 96% delle prostitute testate sia positivo.
